The lesson in our Picture Black and White workshop was to teach us about high contrast. These have always been my favorite kind of black and white images - so I especially enjoyed the lesson a lot.
I shot this with my 50mm @ f/1.4, 1/8000, ISO 200, on an extremely sunny and BRIGHT afternoon. However, I've always found that whenever I'm a little too blown out and cannot fix an image (due to extremely sunny and BRIGHT afternoons), I go high contrast black and white - and it works pretty well for me most times. This particular image wasn't blown out, as I made sure to expose for it correctly, but I've rescued other images in the past with this little high contrast trick - and you can too. Just thought I'd share. :)
